About Amanda
Amanda was born and raised on a small family farm, in a small country village called Howards Grove in Sheboygan County. She was a country girl, surrounded by hard workers and good company, but with not much by way of money or connections. She grew up with grit, honesty, and a deep belief that community takes care of its own.
From bussing tables and bartending, Amanda rose to the call of public service becoming a leader in federal science and a director of a multi-state agency. She didn’t do it alone, though, for her path has always been shaped by real work with real people.
For 25 years, Amanda served the public through the U.S. Geological Survey, leading teams to protect the water supply and preserve the pristine natural resources which Wisconsin families rely upon and love. To this day, Amanda serves our children as a substitute teacher, believing deeply that leaders should stay rooted in the communities they represent.
Amanda is a progressive populist running a grassroots campaign, one built from the ground up. She refuses funding from any special interests and is not driven by party insiders. Her inclusive campaign is designed to be broad, and reach everyone from farmers to urbanites, especially focusing on the needs of the many. She brings together working families of all kinds, and everyone who wants to stand together with people of color, immigrants, the LGBTQIA+ community, and every neighbor who has ever felt like Washington wasn’t looking at them, wasn’t speaking to them.
Amanda will make sure that Washington can hear you. She has lived the challenges of this district from farms to federal agencies, and she is more than ready to be the changemaker the 6th District deserves. Together, we can ring the bell!
